What is your job at ERGO?

“I head the Surety divison at ERGO. In this position, I am on the one hand responsible for the operative business, which includes sales support, underwriting, operations and claims settlement. On the other hand, I am responsible for the strategic development of the division and ensure its profitable growth together with my team.

How did you start your career?

“After finishing my Bachelor in Business Administration and my Master in Finance and Investments, I started my career at the strategy consulting firm Bain & Company. I worked there for nearly eight years, primarily in the Insurance Practice, and supported projects for insurers in Germany and Switzerland. During that time, I also completed my doctoral studies in Economics. I then changed to the fintech auxmoney as Vice President of Corporate Development. I was responsible for strategy development, business model expansion, and the payment protection insurance business. After that, I switched to ERGO, where I assumed responsibility for surety division.

What ist your motto?

“I don’t really have a motto – though, when it comes to work, I definitely agree with Henry Ford’s famous quote: "Don’t find fault, find a remedy.

What, in particular, helped to make you successful?

“Believing in myself, taking a positive approach to every new topic and meeting challenges with a solution-oriented mindset. This attitude has really helped me to consistently deliver good results and not to be discouraged by any obstacles along the way.

How do you unwind in the evening? How do you manage to balance a demanding job and your private life?

“After work, I like to come down with a jog along the Rhine or a good meal with friends and family. At the weekend, I try to go hiking as much as possible. These mental time-outs help me to start the next week with a clear head.

What do you particularly enjoy about leadership?

“When employees grow with my help and overcome challenges that they wouldn’t have dared to face before.
