Our social commitment at our locations

Engagement

Acting responsibly and creating added value at the same time, for the company and for society – that is our goal. Together with our partners, we want to change things for the better.

In our social commitment, we focus on three global challenges that are closely linked to our core business: mitigating the effects of climate change, improving access to healthcare and increasing risk awareness.

We support various social and cultural projects at our locations, for example through our foundations in Germany, Spain and Poland. Many ERGO companies are involved as good neighbours for social causes at their locations. Our employees support local charitable organisations through corporate volunteering. We also help in acute disaster situations.

Commitment of our employees

Many ERGO employees are involved in social or ecological projects. Promoting their commitment to society and the environment − in so-called corporate volunteering assignments − is an integral part of ERGO's corporate culture at its major locations in Germany and abroad. 

  • Fighting rubbish worldwide

    World Cleanup Day

    Millions of people in over 190 countries take part in World Cleanup Day every year. This global United Nations campaign takes place every year on 20 September. ERGO employees at the German and international locations also rolled up their sleeves and made a contribution against environmental pollution and for the community.

  • Social Days in Germany

    Volunteering Germany

    As part of the Social Days, ERGO employees in Germany have the opportunity to get actively involved in charitable projects. These include tasks in organic farming as well as social work, for example in schools or looking after children from socially disadvantaged families.

  • Hestia Volunteer Centre

    Volunteering in Poland

    The Hestia Volunteer Centre coordinates the voluntary charitable activities of ERGO employees in Poland. The main areas of activity include, for example, providing small and large-scale help for the needy, blood donations and baking campaigns for a good cause. ERGO Hestia strengthens, promotes and supports the commitment of employees in the social field and, if necessary, provides financial support for the realisation of projects.

  • Down Foundation Olympics and DKV ACTIVATE

    Volunteering in Spain

    Employees from the company, their family members, friends and intermediaries took part in the Down Foundation Olympics in Madrid, Barcelona and Zaragoza together with people with Down syndrome. In addition to sporting competitions and activities, the programme included workshops to share experiences. DKV Activate, another volunteering project, offers employees the opportunity to realise their own personal heart project.

  • ERGO: Wir helfen e.V.

    ERGO Employee Association in Germany

    The independent association "ergo: wir helfen" (ergo: we help) was founded by ERGO employees in Germany. Around 3,500 employees, pensioners and sales force partners are committed to the motto "helping many with a little". The non-profit organisation is committed to helping people in need through national and international social and charitable projects.

The foundations of ERGO worldwide

ERGO's foundations are independent organisations whose objectives and activities are defined and fulfilled in accordance with the respective foundation statutes. We support various social and cultural projects at our locations, for example through our foundations in Germany, Spain and Poland. Many ERGO companies are involved as good neighbours for social causes at their locations.

  • Boost through job locomotive

    ERGO Foundation "Youth & Future" Germany

    With its "Job-Lokomotive" project, the Hamburg-based foundation supports young people from challenging social backgrounds on their path into working life. Through a low-threshold counselling service, it helps participants to recognise their potential and develop future prospects so that they can successfully start their careers.

  • Professional integration of people with disabilities

    ERGO Hestia Fundacja Integralia Poland

    The ERGO Hestia Group's Integralia Foundation in Poland is committed to the professional integration of people with disabilities. It develops measures and creates conditions that enable them to utilise their potential and build self-confidence. The foundation is involved in integrative workplace design within ERGO Hestia and also supports other companies in their implementation. It realises numerous projects of its own that help to dispel fears and prejudices in connection with disabilities.

  • Art and culture for young people

    ERGO Hestia Fundacja Artystyczna Podróż Hestii Poland

    The Fundacja Artystyczna Podróż Hestii (APH) organises art and literature competitions, publishing and educational programmes, guided tours, lectures and workshops. It aims to promote dialogue between art and business. One of the most important initiatives is the Hestia Literary Journey for children's and young adult literature. The competition honours works for readers between the ages of ten and 15, including novels, graphic novels and short stories that deal with socially relevant topics.

  • Integration and support

    Integralia Foundation Spain

    The Integralia Foundation of DKV Seguros Spain was established in 2000. The aim of the foundation is the social and professional integration of people with disabilities through carefully designed and professionally implemented training, employment and development opportunities. The foundation's activities also include combating the digital divide of people with disabilities through training, the development of social innovation programs focused on inclusion for companies, public institutions and coordinated networking with the third social sector of disability.

At ERGO in Hamburg, this is possible

Part-time apprenticeship?

ERGO offers two training positions per year in Hamburg for the profession "Office Management Assistant" per year, which are tailored to young adults who, for a variety of individual reasons, find it more difficult than others to enter the world of work – for example due to early parenthood or a less linear educational path.
