The Radar is a joint initiative by ERGO and Munich Re and is now in its 13th edition. Each year, experts from both companies identify, aggregate and assess future trends to show how mature they are and how strongly they are expected to impact insurance.
In the 2026 edition, 23 key trends are highlighted and grouped into four trend fields:

These trends are considered to be the technologies with the greatest potential to have a lasting impact on risk assessment, operational resilience and strategic decisions within insurance companies. Examples include ‘AI Agents’, ‘AI‑augmented Software Engineering’ and ‘World Models’ in the field of artificial intelligence, new digital health solutions, the concept of a ‘Digital Immune System’ in cybersecurity, as well as ‘Autonomous Mobility’ and ‘Humanoid Robots’, which are set to transform the overall risk landscape.
