ERGO gets on the bike

World Bicycle Day 2025

Welttag des Fahrrads

On 3rd June, it is World Bicycle Day. Here at ERGO, we are also committed to cycling in Germany and internationally – and we are pedalling away enthusiastically.

ERGO supports cycling, among other things, by participating in the initiative "Stadtradeln 2025," which started on 12th May and runs until 21st September at all locations in Germany. Additionally, there are various cycling groups offered as part of the company sports programme at ERGO sports. Since 2018, a bike leasing programme for employees has also been available.

But it's not just in Germany – our colleagues in our international units are also getting on their bikes.

For example, ERGO employees in Austria have been able to take advantage of attractive job bike and leasing offers since last year. Further incentives to switch include secure covered parking spaces for bikes and showers for employees on the ground floor.

For World Bicycle Day, ERGO Austria is planning a joint breakfast for all cyclists. Over muesli, croissants and fruit, they will be able to exchange experiences and stories about routes and bicycle models in a relaxed atmosphere.

The ERGO companies in China and Spain are also good examples of how the bicycle has long been a proven standard for many employees. Traffic jams, lost time, crowded trains and buses are a thing of the past for them, as is the hassle of finding a parking space.

World Bicycle Day

World Bicycle Day, which has been officially recognised by the United Nations General Assembly since 2018, is a good reason to celebrate. Those who switch to cycling actively contribute to environmental protection and make a valuable contribution to their own well-being, fitness and health. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), cycling helps prevent heart disease, strokes, certain types of cancer, diabetes and other serious illnesses.
