ERGO sets an example at Christopher Street Day 2024 in Cologne
Christopher Street Day (CSD) is a worldwide demonstration, a new beginning – and a good reason to celebrate. This year was no exception, with ERGO once again taking part in the CSD in Cologne yesterday with a branded truck. For the third time in a row. And with 160 enthusiastic employees.
The truck’s motto was #Proudtogether and presented ERGO’s conviction that working together as partners should be held in the highest esteem in front of thousands of visitors. Equal opportunities, diversity and collegiality are important prerequisites for sustainable success at ERGO.
This maxim of respect applies to all areas of human coexistence, including the world of work. This is why the Pride@ergo network was founded by employees at ERGO. It organizes various projects and takes on an advisory role for the company in all LGBT+-relevant topics.
The network can be seen as a kind of nucleus that allows its roots and branches to grow into all areas of the company and beyond. After all, breaking down prejudices and outdated stereotypes is the task of every employee in the company. This is the only way to sustainably establish a diverse, equal and inclusive culture that also has an impact beyond the boundaries of the company. This is why ERGO also flies the flag for Christopher Street Day.
The demonstrations, which also commemorate the courageous revolt in Germany every summer, are intended to raise awareness, nip any kind of oppression and discrimination in the bud and at the same time celebrate the enriching diversity. Because even if the world has become more open and tolerant, backward-looking tendencies should be prevented. In other words, everyone should be able to enjoy their freedom, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
"#Proudtogether was the motto of this year's CSD in Cologne. I couldn't have chosen it better. As a patron of the Pride@ergo network, it is important to me that we give a voice to all people in the LGBT+ community a voice and represent their concerns with conviction.
For me, diversity is the basis of an open and tolerant culture that is orientated towards fundamental values and makes us as ERGO resilient. Only when every person can fulfil their potential, will we gain as a strong community.

General information about the CSD
In the summer of 1969, a movement began whose effects still reverberate today. After the uprising of the homosexual and queer community against brutal, sometimes bloody police attacks, the calls for equal rights and a tolerant society could no longer be ignored. The place: Christopher Street in New York's Greenwich Village neighbourhood. The LGBT+ movement was born. Since then, more and more people around the world have been coming together to fight for acceptance, respect and fair coexistence.
