ERGO strengthens access to justice for mid-sized businesses
With a comprehensively revamped Commercial Legal Protection product, ERGO now offers small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) significantly extended yet clearly structured insurance cover for legal disputes.
The new ERGO Commercial Legal Protection product is specifically tailored to the needs of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The product addresses typical areas of conflict such as disputes arising from customer and supplier contracts, employment law disputes, conflicts with authorities, criminal allegations due to negligent breaches of duty, as well as reputational risks in the digital space.
Especially in the SME sector, the enforcement of legitimate claims fails far too often because of uncertainty and cost risks – not because of the law itself. With our new Commercial Legal Protection product, we provide entrepreneurs with a reliable cost airbag: clearly structured, flexible in price and with practical benefits that noticeably ease the legal burdens of day-to-day business for small and medium-sized companies.
Two product lines with enhanced services: “Smart” and “Best”
The new product generation is based on two clearly defined lines: “Smart” and “Best”. Coverage has been significantly expanded in both lines; “Smart” offers, among other things, extended tax, social and administrative legal protection, including out-of-court cover, higher sums insured as well as legal protection for ancillary transactions. The “Best” line includes additional benefits, such as universal legal protection and preventive legal advice up to 1,000 euros, legal protection for commercial copyright infringements up to 10,000 euros, as well as a prior-insurance and innovation guarantee.
Wide range of legal services and support for entrepreneurs
In addition to traditional cost coverage, the new Commercial Legal Protection product offers a broad spectrum of legal and service benefits designed to ease the everyday workload of entrepreneurs. These include, among others, general advice on business succession and the drawing up of a business power of attorney or business directive, a review of general terms and conditions and other documents, credit checks on potential customers, business partners and tradespeople, general review of employment contracts and the preparation of job references, as well as participation in online webcasts on data protection and compliance.
For the private sphere of insured persons, the product also includes general advice on living wills and healthcare proxies, as well as on the creation of funeral directives, wills and arrangements for digital estates.
Streamlined structure and processes for greater practicality
As part of the relaunch, ERGO has significantly streamlined the product design and related processes to make conclusion and administration easier. Instead of several application paths and special conditions, there is now a central set of terms and conditions for self-employed persons. Special coverage concepts, for example for tax consultants and auditors, have been simplified to make policy conclusion as intuitive as possible. At the same time, debt collection legal protection has been enhanced and gaps in specialist criminal legal protection have been closed.
