Partnership for more visibility and participation
As a partner of the DFB-Pokal and the national teams of men, women, and U21, ERGO expands its broad commitment to soccer with a targeted support of young girls. GRLS WNTD SOCCER follows a holistic approach: The project targets soccer-enthusiastic girls who are introduced to soccer through schools, open events, or trial training sessions with role models - regardless of whether they already play in a club or are new to the game.
The common goal: to enable girls to have positive experiences in soccer early on, to boost their self-confidence, and to create unforgettable moments that motivate them to continue their journey in soccer. Because soccer thrives on first contact and shared experiences, support is deliberately not limited to the competitive level, but rather begins right from the moment girls first get a ball at their feet – with encouragement, fun, and inspiring role models.
The first sports event of GRLS WNTD SOCCER already took place this year on April 10: At the "Campus Turbo Kick" on the DFB Campus in Frankfurt, over 30 girls trained where national players usually play. During the four-hour movement and soccer program, they could test their soccer skills, build friendships, and receive tips from active and former professional players.
The cooperation will receive broad visibility during the DFB-Pokal final for women on May 1, 2025, in Cologne. The partnership will not only be visible on the LED boards at the field and at the ERGO booth at the fan and family festival. For one participant of GRLS WNTD SOCCER, the day will hold a special highlight: She will walk onto the field as a ball carrier alongside her idols in front of a large audience - a symbolic moment for many girls that builds self-confidence and inspires them to pursue soccer further.
In 2025, two more "Turbo Kicks" are planned for July and September, as well as a school tour in November at ten schools in Frankfurt. A special highlight will be the "Action Day" on June 28, 2025, at the Sports Park Preungesheim - an event for 150 girls and their families. The program includes meet and greets with active and former female professional soccer players, a mini European Championship, show acts, and activities for siblings.
The application for participation in the "Action Day" is already open: Girls aged 8 to 16 can apply until May 25, 2025, at https://girlswanted-soccer.de/angebot/#actionday. All formats are free of charge to make access as simple and low-threshold as possible. The focus is on the joy of movement, community experience, and encounters with real role models - depending on the format, either the girls themselves or the schools can apply.
