DKV Deutsche Krankenversicherung AG (DKV) is launching a new supplementary dental insurance product aimed specifically at health-conscious customers on 1 October 2024.

DKV’s new dental product range offers comprehensive protection featuring generous, state-of-the-art benefits for policyholders with statutory health insurance. Clients can take out coverage for every dental health eventuality as part of a worry-free all-round package.

The compact product concept features benefits related to dental prosthesis (crowns, bridges and implants), dental treatment (fillings and root canal treatment), orthodontics and dental hygiene work. Three levels of protection (80%/90%/100%), as well as an add-on tariff that includes additional benefits for dental hygiene work, bleaching and pain relief, allow clients to put together a package that is tailored to suit their specific needs. The add-on tariff can be taken out in combination with one of the three compact options. Another key and novel feature of the insurance relates to prevention. Clients with healthy teeth who go for regular check-ups can enjoy a benefit that is the only one of its kind on the market. After only two years, they enjoy full coverage for their dental treatment, shortening the period of sliding-scale dental benefits that is standard in the industry by one year.

“Our new DKV compact tariff stands out thanks to its attractive benefits and focus on prevention, and is aimed primarily at health-conscious clients. In this sense, it is the only product of its kind on the market”, says Frauke Fiegl, Member of the Board of Management of ERGO Deutschland AG and Chair of the Board of Management of DKV and ERGO Krankenversicherung (EKV).

Increasing need for protection for people with statutory health insurance

According to the German Association of Private Health Insurers (PKV)(https://www.pkv.de/verband/presse/meldungen/starker-zuwachs-178-millionen-deutsche-haben-eine-zahnzusatzversicherung/), around 22 percent of people with statutory health insurance have taken out supplementary dental insurance. “There is still a considerable protection gap extending beyond the basic statutory benefits – and this is set to grow going forward as the healthcare system evolves and costs continue to rise. Our new package targets these very needs and offers our customers innovative and comprehensive insurance coverage”, explains Fiegl.

Tailored insurance coverage to meet a range of different needs

The varied and recently expanded DKV and EKV product range allows ERGO to offer products tailored to its customers’ specific needs: those who prefer to have comprehensive coverage can take out DKV’s new compact tariff policy and benefit from excellent value for money. Clients who prefer to put their own insurance coverage together and select benefits from a range of modules should opt for an EKV dental tariff.
