Johnson becomes the Chief Technology Officer on the ERGO Group Board of Management

Robin Johnson

The Supervisory Board of ERGO Group AG has appointed Robin Johnson (55) as Member of the Board of Management responsible for Information Technology and Chief Technology Officer of the ERGO Group with effect from March 17, 2023. Johnson has been managing the IT of Munich Re and MEAG since 2017. He will also assume the role of Chair of  Supervisory Board of ERGO Technology and Service Management AG (ET&SM). Tomasz Smaczny will continue to serve as CEO of ET&SM and will report to Mr. Johnson.

The IT functions of Munich Re Group are undergoing parallel transformations in every business field within the Group. While the respective strategies have been managed separately by Reinsurance (incl. MEAG) and ERGO, an increasing number of projects have already been conducted in an integrated manner, bringing all parts of the Group together in one coherently managed approach. “This has successfully shown that the effectiveness of the interlocked business model is also applicable to IT”, underlines Markus Rieß, CEO ERGO Group and Member of the Board of Munich Re.
