As strategic partner to the automotive and mobility industry, we offer solutions for traditional business (e.g. retail) as well as for new innovative models (e.g. car subscriptions). In our role as international orchestrator and infrastructure provider, we able to not only structure the insurance business more efficiently, we can also strengthen it across markets with IT and technology expertise.

Almost no other industry is as globalized as the automotive sector. With well over 20 million new car registrations per year, the Chinese market plays a major role in the motor insurance business. Since 2020, we have therefore been particularly active in this market. We were among the first Western insurers to establish a joint venture with one of China's largest car manufacturers. In addition, we are focusing particularly on the European market, to which we have excellent access via the international ERGO companies and the Munich Re network.

Smart mobility is inconceivable without smart automotive insurance solutions. ERGO and Munich Re therefore founded the MTC Mobility Technology Center in 2022.

Together with our partners, the engineering service provider in-tech and Prof. Markus Lienkamp, head of the Institute of Automotive Technology at the Technical University of Munich, we are working on the interaction of vehicle technologies with digital and integrated insurance solutions. The focus of our initiatives is on products and services in the areas of high-voltage batteries, driver assistance systems and fully integrated digital insurance modules based on vehicle and customer data.
