Improving one’s life little by little, that's what many people are up to with optimizing nutrition, sport, sleep, work and meditation. In the third and final part of our interview series with biohacker Teemu Arina, our columnist Markus Sekulla got a recipe for coffee almost surely will improve your usual morning routine.
In the first two weeks of our Biohacker’s series here on //next, we already received a lot of feedback that ranged from “It’s an unbeliiiievably exciting topic” to “posts on self-optimisation give me a headache just from reading them”. I tend to lean towards the first comment and have tried some biohacking things myself. I usually adopt these things for a month and then see what I can keep from the challenge and what I can't.
And that's why it was an exciting hour for me to spend with world class biohacker Teemu Arina! It's safe to say that it made a lasting impression on me and so I mentioned it in just about every lengthy conversation over the last two weeks. Many of the conversations then drifted in that direction and I was able to report numerous thought-provoking ideas. One thing that particularly stuck with me is Teemu's statement that “you can make a big difference with small changes”. It's an area where the 80-20 rule can certainly be applied: With 20 percent change, you can already achieve 80 percent effect.
One good change for me in recent weeks was switching to coffee with (vegan) butter and MCT oil. Many know this concept through Bulletproof coffee developed by Dave Asprey. But Teemu wouldn't be one of the world's leading biohackers if he settled for that. His coffee recipe is composed of the following ingredients:
Well, I have to admit that I didn’t have all of the things at home. So, I'll go shopping and leave you to the evaluation of biohacking and this coffee recipe ;) .
Teemu Arina is a biohacker from Finnland. He is trying to optimize his body.
