Insurer ERGO and Kunstpalast Düsseldorf launch a digital project for young visitors

ERGO and the city of Düsseldorf have announced the start of a digital partnership. Through its subsidiaries ERGO Digital Ventures and Digital IT, the international insurance group is providing pro bono digital expertise for communal projects.

“I am very pleased to announce this partnership, which will benefit the people of Düsseldorf”, says mayor Thomas Geisel. “ERGO is not just one of the biggest employers in the city, it is also a leading insurance group that has set a strategic executive focus on digitalisation and is ideally positioned to support the city in this field.”

Digital experts from ERGO are restructuring the online sales process for the city’s Kunstpalast museum. A website for children between the ages of six and 12 and improved online search functions will be developed to attract more young visitors and families to the museum.

“Children are very welcome in our museum”, says Felix Krämer, General Director of Kunstpalast. “Our aim is to make the Kunstpalast museum more attractive for families and young people, to engage with them and to gain them as repeat visitors. We want to tell exciting stories about art and will be the first German-speaking art museum to offer a dedicated website for children. I am especially happy that we are collaborating with ERGO’s digital experts on this project”, says Krämer.

ERGO has developed leading solutions in the financial sector for voice control, artificial intelligence, robotics, mobility and online sales technologies. “For us, the core of digitalisation is being close to the customer, constantly developing, testing and improving our offerings”, says Mark Klein, Chief Digital Officer at ERGO. “Over the past few years, we have built up considerable digital expertise and networks, and are now making this know-how available to the city, starting with our direct neighbour, the Kunstpalast.”

The Kunstpalast in Düsseldorf is the first art museum in Germany to have a website aimed exclusively at children. Youngsters aged between six and 12 can have fun exploring works of art on the website www.kunstpalast.de/kinder: challenges include pretending to be thieves and running away from the museum guards, playing a memory game against the computer, answering quiz questions and a detective challenge to find details in pictures.
