Questions for Dagmar Weinfurtner

What is your job at ERGO?

“For the P&R Group I am Commercial Manager as well as being responsible for human resources. I am also coordinating compliance, fraud & risk management, ERGO guidelines, legal issues & communication as well as all issues in the direction of the shareholder. Finally, I am Managing Director of two nursing services.

How did you start your career?

“I started my professional career as a nursing assistant in a hospital. After completing my professional training, I worked as an intensive care and anaesthesiology nurse in various intensive care units at the University Hospital Regensburg and also in the Emergency Department.

After a stint in hyperbaric medicine, I then worked as a case manager for health insurance funds, and helped develop case management at Allianz. After completing a degree in Business Administration, I switched to in-house consulting and acquired the OPEX Black Belt certificate. After that, I continued working in central administration as a consultant to the Board of Management on benefit and health management. After successfully completing my management training, I then worked as head of long-term care insurance, medical aids and later dentistry. In 2019 I took a sabbatical. When the coronavirus pandemic started, I worked as a healthcare professional in a nursing home. Since December 2020, I have been working at P&R GmbH as Managing Director, a role that I find challenging, but fulfilling.

What is your motto?

“I get things moving, dynamically design the change, and ensure that it works.

What in particular helped to make you successful?

“Determination, courage, good humour, confidence, gratitude, communication, empathy, flexibility, and an openness for new things.

How do you switch off from work in the evening? How do you manage to keep a balance between your challenging work responsibilities and your private life?

“Meeting friends, going to hardware stores, the sauna, football, lazing around.

What tips can you give to women on their way to management positions?

“Trust yourself to take on responsibilities and to be feminine. Pursue you goals with confidence. Don’t get demoralized by set-backs.
