Our work has taught us that there’s no such thing as 100 percent protection. There are always people who, through no fault of their own, find themselves in difficult situations from which they cannot pull themselves out. ERGO and its employees are happy to help. Aside from the programmes listed here, the company also supports additional social projects such as the Madeleine Schickedanz Children’s Cancer Foundation.

The ‘Helfende Hände’ (Helping Hands)

"Helfende Hand"This regional project in Düsseldorf was initiated by the St Rochus Catholic elementary school and the Derendorf district police office. The project’s goal is to help keep kids safe on their way to school. Select partner businesses located along the children’s routes to school are marked with a ‘helping hand’. In dangerous situations, kids can go to these businesses for help.

The 'ergo: wir helfen' association

Association ergo: wir helfen e.V.Since the association’s founding in 1990, several million euros have been donated to German and international social projects and institutions – particularly to projects to aid children. Over 5,000 employees are members of the association and donate the cent amount from their monthly salaries or commission checks.

These are donations that help – quickly and effectively. The association works for example with the Evangelisches Krankenhaus hospital in Düsseldorf, ‘Friedensdorf International’ (Peace Village International) and the Hammer Forum to provide medical and psychological care for children who have been affected by war.

Young people with a disability support D.A.S.

Since September 2010, D.A.S. has worked together with the Munich-based integration company ICP Verwaltungs- und Service GmbH (IVS) and, thus, helps severely disabled employees to gain a foothold in the primary labour market via qualified tasks. At the integration company, young office clerks and office workers with cerebral palsy work together with people without a disability. They received extensive and specific training for the demanding work at D.A.S.

Integration of disabled persons

A particular focus of our social commitment, also on an international level, is the integration of people with a disability. They receive special support, for example, at the Customer Service Centre of ERGO Hestia in Poland. Colleagues with a physical disability provide telephone support to customers. This is promoted by the in-house foundation "Integralia".
