"audit berufundfamilie": ERGO has been convincing for 20 years

Magazine, 21.06.2022

Whether it's childcare or caring for relatives: ERGO supports its employees with a wide range of attractive offers - and was again awarded the "audit berufundfamilie" certificate for this in 2022.

Team ERGO Diversity: Bianca Boudein, Dagmar Brück, Katrin Weitz und Katja Hanning.

The latest award once again recognises ERGO's HR policy as "family and life-phase oriented" and attests to the insurance company's "continuous improvement of family-friendly working conditions". It was awarded on Tuesday, 21 June 2022, as part of a certificate online event.

Among the well-wishers were Lisa Paus, Federal Minister for Family Affairs, John-Philip Ham-mersen as Managing Director of the Gemeinnützige Hertie-Stiftung, Oliver Schmitz as Managing Director of berufundfamilie Service GmbH and the renowned sociologist and keynote speaker Prof. Aladin El-Mafaalani.

ERGO had previously successfully gone through the dialogue procedure for the audit. Measures such as

  • Diversity training for managers and international units of ERGO,
  • the annual organisation of Diversity Day,
  • the support of the five employee networks at ERGO, and the
  • the expansion of family-conscious measures - especially at ERGO's Nuremberg site,

underline the high priority that ERGO attaches to the compatibility of career and family.

Katja Hanning, Diversity Manager at ERGO:
"Reconciling work and family life is important to us. At ERGO, we promote the individual strengths of our employees and involve everyone on an equal footing. This is how we shape a fair and attractive corporate culture in diversity."

Success story since in 2002

ERGO was awarded the audit certificate for the first time in 2002 for the Düsseldorf location and in 2009 for all administrative locations. It is valid for three years in each case. With the fifth certificate, ERGO has been awarded the audit logo with distinction, as it has demonstrably worked constantly and continuously on the measures.

And not only that: over the past 20 years, countless suggestions and ideas from employees have been taken up in order to jointly shape the harmony between personal needs and professional concerns.

Katrin Weitz, Diversity Manager at ERGO:
"Entering into conversation and listening not only creates ideas, but also satisfaction and motivation. I am proud that over the years we have always adapted to the different and changing needs and constantly adapted our offers."

About the award

The "audit berufundfamilie" is awarded across all sectors and company sizes and records the status quo of the "family- and life-phase-conscious" measures offered in each case, systematically develops the company's individual potential and ensures that family awareness is anchored in the organisational culture. After successful completion of this process, an independent board of trustees made up of prominent representatives from business, science, politics and associations awards the audit certificate. Since its introduction in 1998, more than 1,800 employers have been awarded the certificate. The online event on 21 June 2022 was dedicated to a total of 343 employers - 158 com-panies, 152 institutions and 33 universities - that had successfully completed the "audit berufund-familie" or the "audit familiengerechte hochschule" in the previous twelve months.
