The multi-channel strategy of KarstadtQuelle and the brands and product variety of ERGO are concentrated in this strategic partnership. This means that the sales channels of KarstadtQuelle can be used for the products offered by the ERGO companies: over-the-counter retail trade, mail-order and direct sales as well as e-business and TV commerce. On the other hand, KarstadtQuelle is able to expand the products on offer with products provided by the ERGO companies.
The joint venture, which has been in force ever since March 2002, is setting new standards for the financial services industry, since it is a unique combination in Germany due to the profile of both partners in their separate spheres – Europe’s largest department store and mail-order corporation and the European market leader in health and legal expenses insurance.
Each partner holds a 50 per cent stake in KarstadtQuelle Financial Services GmbH.
Furthermore, ERGO holds majority shares in Germany’s leading direct insurer, KarstadtQuelle Insurances.
The ERGO Versicherungsgruppe AG is also partner of the initiative "CEO of the Future".
